RDL Architects to Present on Neighborhood Redevelopment at Design Columbus 2015
Cleveland’s Upcycling Program to be Highlighted in Presentation
April 8, 2015 – RDL Architects’ planning and design team will be presenting “The Upcycling of St. Clair: A plan for the St. Clair Neighborhood” at Design Columbus 2015 on April 20 at COSI, 333 W. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215. The presenting team includes Ron Lloyd, Kevin Dreyfuss-Wells, Margaret Kavourias and Gregory Soltis of RDL Architects, along with James Amendola of the St. Clair Superior Development Corporation.
The plan uses the upcycling concept and project design as a catalyst for an historic neighborhood resurgence to help redefine the essence and rebrand the neighborhood and region. The facility was identified as a potential structure for redevelopment as a multifamily residence appealing to artists, millennials and boomers. RDL Architects conducted a rigorous neighborhood analysis, held stakeholder meetings, worked with the local Community Development Corporation, and analyzed the existing structure and surrounding parcels in order to envision its redevelopment. The presentation identifies and showcases the best ways to leverage the structure and its surrounding area for redevelopment.
Design Columbus 2015 is an opportunity to learn and engage in the transformation of the Central Ohio built environment to be more healthy, prosperous and sustainable. The educational seminars presents current and future development of technologies for all leaders in Central Ohio, creating buildings and communities that promote economic growth and sustain the health and vitality of all life.
Attendees and participants are representatives of the entire project team, including architects, designers, engineers, owners, developers, government officials, municipal planners, facility managers, contractors, construction managers, construction specifiers, manufacturers, product representatives and others. Design Columbus is the joint efforts of U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) – Central Ohio Chapter and the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) – Columbus Chapter.
