RDL Project in Indiana Receives Lt. Governor’s Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing
SHAKER HEIGHTS, OHIO (Oct. 5, 2017) – RDL Architects is honored to receive the 2017 Lt. Governor’s Excellence Award in Affordable Housing from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority for its project in the category of Urban Housing. Gateway Apartments consists of 60 affordable apartments in nine buildings, and a clubhouse, located in Columbus, Indiana. The project was in collaboration with The Thrive Alliance and Jonesboro Investments Corporation.
The 2017 Excellence in Affordable Housing Awards were presented by Indiana Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch at the Indiana Housing Conference in August. The awards celebrated the best in Indiana affordable housing development, and recognized the most outstanding new properties in four categories: Rural Housing; Urban Housing; Senior Housing and Special Needs Housing.
Gateway Apartments was developed from a vacant brownfield site into a vibrant new housing community. The pedestrian-friendly urban design creates a new streetscape that integrates nicely with the existing residential neighborhood. “Gateway Apartments are not only well-designed, but our interior design team created a beautiful new clubhouse,” said Ron Lloyd, President and Founder of RDL Architects. “We are grateful to work on housing projects that provide an affordable place for people to call home.”
