Phase I of the neighborhood revitalization development establishes an arts district just south of the University of Akron. Newly constructed town homes and live-work environments balance the existing gallery and studio space currently located throughout the residential blocks. Infill mixed-use development along the major commercial corridor is designed as flexible space, allowing the buildings and the users to evolve over time.
The residential portion of the neighborhood plan was designed as a phased development to be built over an extended period of time. Additionally, the mixed-use phase along Exchange Street can be built independently or as a series determined by land availability and demand.
