Knickerbocker Apartments in Bay Village, Ohio engaged RDL Architects for a major renovation to their independent senior apartments. RDL drew from their breadth of experience with interior design for senior living apartments to create a warm and calming environment.

Major renovations in the central core of the buildings include enclosing the existing courtyard and adding a skylight to bring in an abundance of natural light. This extra square footage will be used for resident activities and community events. Common areas were renovated to add office spaces for administrative and medical staff, a great room and multipurpose flex space with a new fireplace, a media room including space for television viewing, computer stations and bookshelves, a laundry room, a fitness room, and a craft room.

RDL implemented a rich color palette rooted in natural tones, including green, blue, orange and berry hues. Material finish selections were included for all resident units.
