Plaza on Pearl
Plaza on Pearl started as a vacant, wooded site filled with wetlands between a car dealership and a trampoline park in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. The Omkar Group brought RDL Architects on board to reimagine the space as a 36,700 square foot shopping center.
RDL worked closely with the client and civil engineer early in the design process to maximize buildable area and reduce the amount of wetland mitigation that needed to occur. This design effort resulted in a project that includes two retail buildings, one of which contains a 20,000 square foot grocery store as the anchor tenant. RDL completed the shell structure for all retail tenants and the tenant improvement package for the grocery anchor.
Plaza on Pearl features electric car charging stations and a pedestrian walkway between the front door of the grocery store and Pearl Road. Exterior materials consist of brick veneer, a large format stone base, EIFS banding, metal panels, a faux wood rainscreen system and an aluminum storefront system with insulated glazing.
