Sgt. Clean Green

Sgt. Clean approached RDL about reimagining its car wash in Uniontown, OH by improving its functionality and modernizing its layout. Formerly a Conrad’s car wash, the recent rebrand called for significant renovations to best support employees and serve customers.

RDL’s scope included demolition of two building wings, infill of Sgt. Clean’s basement, converting the lobby into office space, adding a mat wash room and interior cleaning building. The site was also reworked to add new vacuum stations and parking spots.

Our team was tasked with designing the Interior Cleaning Building (ICB). This called for a detailed process to layout the equipment Sgt Clean needs and ensure the floor plan, structure and ceiling heights accommodated the necessary equipment.  Elevations were designed to compliment the existing structure while modernizing the building to match Sgt Clean’s brand.  Once this design process was completed, we developed the construction documents and submitted for a permit.

The resulting standout feature is a new, first of its kind ICB that involves customers exiting their cars while it gets cleaned. The ICB hosts a conveyor belt that moves vehicles through the cleaning tunnel, enabling employees to clean the interior within 10 minutes while drivers wait inside a comfortable waiting area. It’s a wonderful convenience and time saver that will enhance customer’s experience.
