Euclid3

Euclid3, a modern, mixed-use project serving as student apartments for area universities, is a 49-unit / 105-bed apartment building in Cleveland’s University Circle neighborhood. RDL’s design of the building created a new visual terminus at the east end of the Uptown district, which helped to transition the area between contemporary development to the west and historic buildings to the east.

Design elements and materials for the project were developed to harmonize with a broad range of old and new styles in the surrounding neighborhoods. A new piazza designed to encourage vibrant retail activity was created to serve both the existing apartment building to the east as well as the new building. RDL developed a new entrance to the building, providing a warm and secure entry experience with a management office presence while also resolving challenging building code issues.

The new building layout is organized around an interior courtyard, significantly increasing the yield of units while creating a secure outdoor amenity space for residents. Two-level townhome-style apartments were also provided facing East 115th street, with apartment front door entrances helping to contribute to street activity and transition to the residential-scale neighborhood to the north.
