The Allen Estates at League Park
The Allen Estates development, located on the east side of Cleveland in the historic Hough neighborhood, is a four-phase approach to reignite the neighborhood around League Park. In collaboration with Frontline Development and the City of Cleveland, RDL was tasked with analyzing the block structure, pedestrian connectivity, the streetscape, zoning, and proposing a mix of housing types.
To attract a socioeconomically and age-diverse population into the neighborhood, housing will vary and includes rental apartments in a mixed-use building, for-sale townhomes, and accessory dwelling units.
In addition to new housing units, RDL identified upgrades to the current amenities in the neighborhood. League Park, the neighborhood’s history, and Black culture are the design inspiration for the redevelopment for the area around the stadium. The proposed buildings will incorporate the architectural language of the stadium while baseball iconography and Black history will be weaved into the design of the streetscape and public plaza. The extension and improvements to the alleyway and a mix of building types will help to re-establish the neighborhood’s historic fabric.
In addition to the new homes, residents can expect a new Cleveland Public Library branch and new commercial properties to complement the updated League Park Plaza. Frontline Development Group is looking forward to making the area an attractive, walkable space for current and future generations to enjoy.
