Western Reserve Masonic Community

Western Reserve Masonic Community, established by the Ohio Masonic Home in 2001, is one of three campuses established to empower residents of Ohio to remain healthy, independent and supported. RDL Architects has worked with the Ohio Masonic Home team on their renovations for existing buildings 3, 4 and 5, establishing a design direction that will continue to come alive in the new construction and further renovations.

Existing Assisted Living renovations modernized interiors with a more transitional aesthetic, refreshed the color palette, all new furnishings, and updated artwork. The RDL team worked closely with the client to thoroughly program interior spaces to maximize functionality for both residents and staff.

The new skilled nursing community consists of a short-term rehabilitation wing with a hospitality feel. Long-term care is comprised of two households with a residential feel. The new Independent Living commons building and attached apartment building offer various dining experiences both casual and formal along with amenities focused on wellness and socialization, centralized Great Room with wonderful views, Fitness Room and Yoga Studio, and versatile multi-purpose space with a demonstration kitchen and theater capabilities.

The RDL Interior team thoughtfully brought in color and pattern without being trendy, focusing on timeless design. Neutral finish materials with color accents brought in through thoughtfully placed painted walls, furnishings, artwork and accessories unify the entire campus. Our goal is to enrich the residents’ experience, considering the aging eye, mobility restrictions and advances in technology. Common areas capitalize on natural light with large windows, and high volume spaces integrate suspended decorative features for visual interest.
