Weston
Weston is the transformation of the former Westland Mall site into a vibrant, music-centered neighborhood. Anchored by a 12,000-seat outdoor amphitheater, the mixed-use development blends entertainment, dining, retail, and housing to create a dynamic new community. A key highlight of the project is the adaptive reuse of the former JCPenney building, which will be renovated into an indoor music venue—enabling year-round live entertainment.
Emphasizing a people-centric approach, Weston incorporates walkable streets, activated public spaces, and direct connections to Columbus’s existing bike and transit networks. Two central
plazas and a series of pocket green spaces are thoughtfully distributed throughout the development, offering inviting places for gathering, recreation, and relaxation.
A partnership between the developer and a neighboring casino allowed for shared overflow parking, enabling the design team to prioritize everyday functionality rather than overbuild for
peak event demand. By locating most parking behind buildings and along the site’s perimeter, the core remains focused on pedestrian-friendly amenities and vibrant public space.
Beyond creating a destination neighborhood, Weston plays a key role in advancing the broader revitalization strategy for the Broad Street Corridor and western Columbus. Close coordination
with county officials and the local transit agency ensures the development strengthens community connectivity and aligns with long-term city goals.
